3 ^aFor I was ^benvious of the arrogant
when I saw the ^cprosperity of the wicked.

4 I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
and to the wicked, ^d‘Do not lift up your horn;

8 All the day my enemies taunt me;
those who ^ederide me ^fuse my name for a curse.

2 I ^gsaid of laughter, “It is mad,” and of pleasure, “What use is it?”

12 ^hSo I turned to consider ⁱwisdom and madness and folly. For what can the man do who comes after the king? Only ^jwhat has already been done.

9 ^kBe not quick in your spirit to become angry,
^lfor anger lodges in the heart ^{▼▼Hebrew in the bosom} of fools.

13 The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness,
and the end of his talk is evil madness.
