Psalms 137:1-3

How Shall We Sing the Lord’s Song?

1 By the waters of Babylon,
there we sat down and wept,
when we remembered Zion.
2On the willows
Or poplars
there
we hung up our lyres.
3For there our captors
required of us songs,
and our tormentors, mirth, saying,
Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

Jeremiah 3:22-25

22 uReturn, O faithless sons;
vI will heal your faithlessness.”
Behold, we come to you,
for you are the Lord our God.
23Truly wthe hills are a delusion,
the orgies
Hebrew commotion
on the mountains.
yTruly in the Lord our God
is the salvation of Israel.
24“But from our youth the shameful thing has devoured all for which our fathers labored, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. 25 zLet us lie down in our shame, and let our dishonor cover us. For aawe have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God.”

Jeremiah 31:19

19For after abI had turned away, I relented,
and after I was instructed, acI struck my thigh;
adI was ashamed, and I was confounded,
because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’

Lamentations 2:15-17

15 All who pass along the way
clap their hands at you;
aethey hiss and wag their heads
at the daughter of Jerusalem:
“Is this the city that was called
afthe perfection of beauty,
agthe joy of all the earth?”
16 ahAll your enemies
rail against you;
they hiss, they gnash their teeth,
they cry: “We aihave swallowed her!
Ah, this is the day we longed for;
now we have it; ajwe see it!”
17 The Lord has done what he purposed;
he has carried out akhis word,
which he commanded allong ago;
amhe has thrown down anwithout pity;
aohe has made the enemy rejoice over you
and exalted the apmight of your foes.
