Psalms 74:4-8

4 Your foes have ^aroared in the midst of your meeting place;
^bthey set up their ^cown signs for ^dsigns.
5 They were like those who swing ^eaxes
in a forest of trees. ^{▼▼The meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain}
6 And all its ^gcarved wood
they broke down with hatchets and hammers.
7 They ^hset your sanctuary on fire;
they ⁱprofaned ^jthe dwelling place of your name,
bringing it down to the ground.
8 They ^ksaid to themselves, “We will utterly subdue them”;
they burned all the meeting places of God in the land.

Psalms 79:1-7

How Long, O Lord?

1 O God, ^mthe nations have come into your ⁿinheritance;
they have defiled your ^oholy temple;
they have ^plaid Jerusalem in ruins.
2 They have given ^qthe bodies of your servants
to the birds of the heavens for food,
the flesh of your ^rfaithful to ^sthe beasts of the earth.
3 They have poured out their blood like water
all around Jerusalem,
and there was ^tno one to bury them.
4 We have become ^ua taunt to our neighbors,
^vmocked and derided by those around us.
5 ^wHow long, O Lord? Will you be angry ^xforever?
Will your ^yjealousy ^zburn like fire?
6 ^aaPour out your anger on the nations
that ^abdo not know you,
and on the kingdoms
that ^acdo not call upon your name!
7 For they have devoured Jacob
and laid waste his habitation.

Isaiah 63:18
