Isaiah 49:14-23

14 But Zion said, e“The Lord has forsaken me;
my Lord has forgotten me.”
15 f“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you.
16Behold, gI have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me.
17Your builders make haste;
Dead Sea Scroll; Masoretic Text  Your children make haste

iyour destroyers and those who laid you waste go out from you.
18 jLift up your eyes around and see;
they all gather, they come to you.
kAs I live, declares the Lord,
lyou shall put them all on as an ornament;
you shall bind them on as a bride does.
19 Surely your waste and your desolate places
and your devastated land
msurely now you will be too narrow for your inhabitants,
and those who swallowed you up will be far away.
20 nThe children of your bereavement
will yet say in your ears:
o‘The place is too narrow for me;
make room for me to dwell in.’
21Then you will say in your heart:
Who has borne me these?
pI was bereaved and barren,
exiled and put away,
but who has brought up these?
Behold, I was left alone;
from where have these come?’”
22 Thus says the Lord God:
Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations,
qand raise my signal to the peoples;
rand they shall bring your sons in their arms,
Hebrew  in their bosom

and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.
23 tKings shall be your foster fathers,

and vlick the dust of your feet.
Then you will know that I am the Lord;
wthose who wait for me xshall not be put to shame.”

9 This is like acthe days of Noah
Some manuscripts For this is as the waters of Noah
to me:
as I swore that the waters of Noah
should no more go over the earth,
so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you,
and will not rebuke you.
10For the mountains may depart
and the hills be removed,
but my steadfast love shall not depart from you,
and aemy covenant of peace shall not be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
11 af“O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted,

Or lapis lazuli

your gates of carbuncles,
Or crystal

and all your wall of precious stones.
13 alAll your children amshall be taught by the Lord,
anand great shall be the peace of your children.
