61 and delivered his ^apower to captivity,
his ^bglory to the hand of the foe.
62 He ^cgave his people over to the sword
and ^dvented his wrath on his heritage.

Jeremiah 7:4-12

4 ^eDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

5 “For if you truly ^famend your ways and your deeds, if you truly ^gexecute justice one with another, 6 if you ^hdo not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, ⁱor shed innocent blood in this place, ^jand if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, 7 ^kthen I will let you dwell in this place, ^lin the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.

8 “Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 ^mWill you steal, murder, commit adultery, ⁿswear falsely, ^omake offerings to Baal, ^pand go after other gods that you have not known, 10 and then come and stand before me in this house, ^qwhich is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations? 11 ^rHas this house, ^swhich is called by my name, ^tbecome a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the Lord. 12 Go now to ^umy place that was in Shiloh, ^vwhere I made my name dwell at first, and ^wsee what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel.

Hosea 1:9
