Psalms 81:12

12So I agave them over to their bstubborn hearts,
to follow their own ccounsels.

Proverbs 14:14

14The backslider in heart will be dfilled with the fruit of his ways,
and ea good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways.

2 Peter 2:15-22

15Forsaking the right way, fthey have gone astray. They have followed gthe way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved hgain from wrongdoing, 16but was rebuked for his own transgression; ia speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

17 jThese are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. kFor them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved. 18For, lspeaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely mescaping from those who live in error. 19They promise them nfreedom, obut they themselves are slaves
Greek bondservants
of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
20For if, qafter they have escaped the defilements of the world rthrough the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, sthe last state has become worse for them than the first. 21For tit would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from uthe holy commandment delivered to them. 22What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The vdog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”
