Psalms 81:8-12

8 aHear, O my people, while I admonish you!
O Israel, if you would but listen to me!
9There shall be no bstrange god among you;
you shall not bow down to a cforeign god.
10 dI am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
eOpen your mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11 “But my people did not listen to my voice;
Israel fwould not submit to me.
12So I ggave them over to their hstubborn hearts,
to follow their own icounsels.

24 jBecause I have called and kyou refused to listen,
have lstretched out my hand and no one has heeded,
25because you have mignored all my counsel
and nwould have none of my reproof,
26I also owill laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when pterror strikes you,
27when terror strikes you like qa storm
and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
when distress and anguish come upon you.
28 rThen they will call upon me, but I will not answer;
they will seek me diligently but will not find me.

Isaiah 50:2

2 sWhy, when I came, was there no man;
why, when I called, was there no one to answer?
tIs my hand shortened, that it cannot redeem?
Or have I no power to deliver?
uBehold, by my rebuke vI dry up the sea,
wI make the rivers a desert;
xtheir fish stink for lack of water
and die of thirst.

and ask for ythe ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
zand find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
17 aaI set watchmen over you, saying,
‘Pay attention to abthe sound of the trumpet!’
But they said, ac‘We will not pay attention.’

Luke 13:34-35

34 adO Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that aekills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! afHow often would I have aggathered ahyour children together aias a hen gathers her brood ajunder her wings, and akyou were not willing! 35Behold, alyour house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, amBlessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’”
