Psalms 82

Rescue the Weak and Needy

A Psalm of aAsaph.

1 bGod chas taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of dthe gods he eholds judgment:
2How long will you judge unjustly
and fshow partiality to gthe wicked?  Selah
3 hGive justice to ithe weak and the fatherless;
jmaintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
4 kRescue the weak and the needy;
ldeliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
5 mThey have neither knowledge nor understanding,
nthey walk about in darkness;
oall the foundations of the earth are pshaken.
6 qI said, “You are gods,
sons of the Most High, all of you;
7nevertheless, like men ryou shall die,
and fall like any prince.”
Or  fall as one man, O princes

8 tArise, O God, judge the earth;
for you shall uinherit all the nations!

Acts 19:34-35

34But when they recognized that he was a Jew, for about two hours they all cried out with one voice, vGreat is Artemis of the Ephesians!”

35And when the town clerk had quieted the crowd, he said, “Men of Ephesus, who is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great Artemis, and of the sacred stone that fell from wthe sky?

Romans 1:21-28

21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they ybecame futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 zClaiming to be wise, they became fools, 23and aaexchanged the glory of abthe immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

24Therefore acGod gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to adthe dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25because they exchanged the truth about God for aea lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, afwho is blessed forever! Amen.

26For this reason agGod gave them up to ahdishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, aimen committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, ajGod gave them up to aka debased mind to do alwhat ought not to be done.

Romans 3:11

11no one understands;
no one seeks for God.

1 Corinthians 1:24-26

24but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ amthe power of God and anthe wisdom of God. 25For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26For consider your calling, brothers: aonot many of you were wise according to worldly standards,
Greek  according to the flesh
not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth.
