Rescue the Weak and Needy

Psalms 83:18

18 that they may ^fknow that you alone,
^gwhose name is the Lord,
are ^hthe Most High over all the earth.

Psalms 140:11-12

11 Let not the slanderer be established in the land;
let evil hunt down the violent man speedily!
12 I know that the Lord will ⁱmaintain the cause of the afflicted,
and ^jwill execute justice for the needy.

Isaiah 3:15

15 What do you mean by ^kcrushing my people,
by grinding the face of the poor?”

Isaiah 5:7

is the house of Israel,

Isaiah 59:13-16

Judgment and Redemption

14 ^pJustice is turned back,
and righteousness stands far away;
for truth has stumbled in the public squares,
and uprightness cannot enter.
15 Truth is lacking,
and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.
The Lord saw it, and it displeased him ^{▼▼Hebrew and it was evil in his eyes}
that there was no justice.
16 ^rHe saw that there was no man,
and wondered that there was no one to intercede;
then his own arm brought him salvation,
and his righteousness upheld him.

Jeremiah 22:17-19

17 But you have eyes and heart
only for your dishonest gain,
^sfor shedding innocent blood,
and for practicing oppression and violence.”
18 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:

^t“They shall not lament for him, saying,
^u‘Ah, my brother!’ or ‘Ah, sister!’
They shall not lament for him, saying,
^v‘Ah, lord!’ or ‘Ah, his majesty!’
19 With the burial of a donkey ^whe shall be buried,
