Psalms 83:4-10

4They say, “Come, alet us wipe them out as a nation;
let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”
5For they conspire with one accord;
against you they make a covenant
6the tents of bEdom and cthe Ishmaelites,
dMoab and ethe Hagrites,
7 fGebal and gAmmon and hAmalek,
iPhilistia with the inhabitants of jTyre;
8 kAsshur also has joined them;
they are the strong arm of lthe children of Lot.  Selah
9 Do to them as you did to mMidian,
as to nSisera and Jabin at othe river Kishon,
10who were destroyed at pEn-dor,
who became qdung for the ground.

Psalms 137:7

7 Remember, O Lord, against the rEdomites
sthe day of Jerusalem,
how they said, t“Lay it bare, lay it bare,
down to its foundations!”

Isaiah 34

Judgment on the Nations

1 Draw near, uO nations, to hear,
and give attention, O peoples!
Let the earth hear, and all that fills it;
the world, and all that comes from it.
2For the Lord is enraged against all the nations,
and furious against all their host;
he has vdevoted them to destruction,
That is, set apart ( devoted) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction); also verse 5
has given them over for slaughter.
3Their slain shall be cast out,
and xthe stench of their corpses shall rise;
ythe mountains shall flow with their blood.
4 zAll the host of heaven shall rot away,
and the skies roll up like a scroll.
All their host shall fall,
as leaves fall from the vine,
like leaves falling from the fig tree.
5 For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens;
behold, it descends for judgment upon aaEdom,
upon the people abI have devoted to destruction.
6The Lord has a sword; it is sated with blood;
it is gorged with fat,
with the blood of lambs and goats,
with the fat of the kidneys of rams.
acFor the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah,
a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 adWild oxen shall aefall with them,
and afyoung steers with agthe mighty bulls.
Their land shall drink its fill of blood,
and their soil shall be gorged with fat.
8 ahFor the Lord has a day of vengeance,
a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
9 aiAnd the streams of Edom
Hebrew her streams
shall be turned into pitch,
and her soil into sulfur;
her land shall become burning pitch.
10Night and day akit shall not be quenched;
alits smoke shall go up forever.
amFrom generation to generation it shall lie waste;
none shall pass through it forever and ever.
11 anBut the hawk and the porcupine
The identity of the animals rendered  hawk and  porcupine is uncertain
shall possess it,
the owl and the raven shall dwell in it.
apHe shall stretch the line of aqconfusion
Hebrew formlessness
over it,
and the plumb line of emptiness.
12Its nobles—there is no one there to call it a kingdom,
and all its princes shall be nothing.
13 asThorns shall grow over its strongholds,
nettles and thistles in its fortresses.
It shall be the haunt of atjackals,
an abode for ostriches.
Or owls

14 avAnd wild animals shall meet with hyenas;
the wild goat shall cry to his fellow;
indeed, there the night bird
Identity uncertain
settles
and finds for herself a resting place.
15 There the owl nests and lays
and hatches and gathers her young in her shadow;
indeed, there axthe hawks are gathered,
each one with her mate.
16Seek and read from the book of the Lord:
Not one of these shall be missing;
none shall be without her mate.
For the mouth of the Lord has commanded,
and his Spirit has gathered them.
17 ayHe has cast the lot for them;
his hand has portioned it out to them with the line;
they shall possess it forever;
from generation to generation they shall dwell in it.

Isaiah 63:1-6

The Lord’s Day of Vengeance

1 Who is this who comes from azEdom,
in crimsoned garments from baBozrah,
he who is splendid in his apparel,
bbmarching in the greatness of his strength?
“It is I, speaking in righteousness,
mighty to save.”
2 Why is your bcapparel red,
and your garments like his bdwho treads in the winepress?
3 be“I have trodden the winepress alone,
bfand from the peoples no one was with me;
I trod them in my anger
and trampled them in my wrath;
their lifeblood
Or  their juice; also verse 6
spattered on my garments,
and stained all my apparel.
4 bhFor the day of vengeance was in my heart,
and my year of redemption
Or the year of my redeemed
had come.
5I looked, but bjthere was no one to help;
I was appalled, but there was no one to uphold;
so my own arm brought me salvation,
and my wrath upheld me.
6I trampled down the peoples in my anger;
bkI made them drunk in my wrath,
and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

Ezekiel 25:12-14

Prophecy Against Edom

12Thus says the Lord God: Because blEdom acted revengefully against the house of Judah and has grievously offended bmin taking vengeance on them, 13therefore thus says the Lord God, bnI will stretch out my hand against Edom and cut off from it man and beast. And I will make it desolate; from boTeman even to bpDedan they shall fall by the sword. 14And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom bqby the hand of my people Israel, and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my wrath, and brthey shall know my vengeance, declares the Lord God.

Ezekiel 35

Prophecy Against Mount Seir

1The word of the Lord came to me: 2 bsSon of man, btset your face buagainst bvMount Seir, and prophesy against it, 3and say to it, Thus says the Lord God: bwBehold, I am against you, Mount Seir, and bxI will stretch out my hand against you, byand I will make you a desolation and a waste. 4 bzI will lay your cities waste, and you shall become a desolation, and you shall know that I am the Lord. 5Because cayou cherished perpetual enmity and gave over the people of Israel to the power of the sword cbat the time of their calamity, ccat the time of their final punishment, 6therefore, cdas I live, declares the Lord God, I will prepare you for blood, and blood shall pursue you; cebecause you did not hate bloodshed, therefore blood shall pursue you. 7 cfI will make Mount Seir a waste cgand a desolation, and I will cut off from it chall who come and go. 8And I will fill ciits mountains with the slain. On your hills and in your valleys and in all cjyour ravines ckthose slain with the sword shall fall. 9 clI will make you a perpetual desolation, and cmyour cities shall not be inhabited. Then cnyou will know that I am the Lord.

10Because you said, co‘These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and cpwe will take possession of them’—although the cqLord was there 11therefore, cras I live, declares the Lord God, I will deal with you csaccording to the anger and ctenvy that you showed because of your hatred against them. And cuI will make myself known among them, when I judge you. 12And you shall know that I am the Lord.

cv“I have heard all the revilings that you uttered against the mountains of Israel, saying, ‘They are laid desolate; cwthey are given us to devour.’
13And cxyou magnified yourselves against me cywith your mouth, and multiplied your words against me; I heard it. 14Thus says the Lord God: czWhile the whole earth rejoices, I will make you desolate. 15As you darejoiced over the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so I will deal with you; you shall be desolate, dbMount Seir, and all Edom, all of it. Then dcthey will know that I am the Lord.
