Psalms 85:5

5 aWill you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?

Isaiah 58:2-3

2 bYet they seek me daily
and delight to know my ways,
as if they were a nation that did righteousness
and did not forsake the judgment of their God;
they ask of me righteous judgments;
they delight to draw near to God.
3 cWhy have we fasted, and you see it not?
Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’
Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure,
Or pursue your own business

eand oppress all your workers.

Isaiah 58:6-9

6 “Is not this the fast that I choose:
fto loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps gof the yoke,
to let the oppressed
Or bruised
go free,
and to break every yoke?
7Is it not ito share your bread with the hungry
and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover him,
jand not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 kThen shall your light break forth like the dawn,
land your healing shall spring up speedily;
myour righteousness shall go before you;
nthe glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
9Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’
If you take away othe yoke from your midst,
pthe pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,

Lamentations 3:44

44 qyou have wrapped yourself with a cloud
so that no prayer can pass through.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

1And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought adalways to pray and not aelose heart. 2He said, In a certain city there was a judge who afneither feared God nor respected man. 3And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 4For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, agThough I neither fear God nor respect man, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” 6And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7And ahwill not God give justice to aihis elect, ajwho cry to him day and night? ak, alWill he delay long over them? 8I tell you, he will give justice to them amspeedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, anwill he find faith on earth?”
