and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.

Jeremiah 23:5-6

5 fBehold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous gBranch, and hhe shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6In his days Judah will be saved, and iIsrael will jdwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: k‘The Lord is our righteousness.’

Ezekiel 17:22-24

22Thus says the Lord God: l“I myself will take a sprig from the lofty top of the cedar and will set it out. mI will break off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and nI myself will plant it on a high and lofty mountain. 23 oOn the mountain height of Israel will I plant it, that it may bear branches and produce fruit and become a noble cedar. pAnd under it will dwell every kind of bird; in the shade of its branches birds of every sort will nest. 24And all the trees of the field shall know that I am the Lord; qI bring low the high tree, and make high the low tree, dry up rthe green tree, and make sthe dry tree flourish. tI am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it.”

Zechariah 3:8

8Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who sit before you, for uthey are men who are a sign: behold, I will bring vmy servant wthe Branch.

Zechariah 6:12

12And say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “Behold, the man whose name is xthe Branch: for he shall branch out from his place, and yhe shall build the temple of the Lord.
