Psalms 9

I Will Recount Your Wonderful Deeds

Psalms 9 and 10 together follow an acrostic pattern, each stanza beginning with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet. In the Septuagint they form one psalm

1 I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;
I will recount all of your cwonderful deeds.
2I will be glad and dexult in you;
I will esing praise to your name, fO Most High.
3 When my enemies turn back,
they stumble and perish before
Or because of
your presence.
4For you have hmaintained my just cause;
you have isat on the throne, giving righteous judgment.
5 You have jrebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish;
you have kblotted out their name forever and ever.
6The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins;
their cities you rooted out;
the very memory of them has perished.
7 But the Lord sits enthroned forever;
he has established his throne for justice,
8and he ljudges the world with righteousness;
he mjudges the peoples with uprightness.
9 The Lord is na stronghold for othe oppressed,
a stronghold in ptimes of trouble.
10And those who qknow your name put their trust in you,
for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
11 Sing praises to the Lord, who rsits enthroned in Zion!
Tell among the peoples his sdeeds!
12For he who tavenges blood is mindful of them;
he udoes not forget the cry of the afflicted.
13 vBe gracious to me, O Lord!
See my affliction from those who hate me,
O you who lift me up from wthe gates of death,
14that I may recount all your praises,
that in the gates of xthe daughter of Zion
I may yrejoice in your salvation.
15 The nations have sunk in zthe pit that they made;
in aathe net that they hid, their own foot has been caught.
16The Lord has made himself abknown; he has executed judgment;
the wicked are snared in the work of their own hands.  Higgaion.

17 The wicked shall adreturn to Sheol,
all the nations that aeforget God.
18 For the needy shall not always be forgotten,
and afthe hope of the poor shall not perish forever.
19 agArise, O Lord! Let not ahman prevail;
let the nations be judged before you!
20Put them in fear, O Lord!
Let the nations know that they are but aimen!  Selah

Psalms 94

The Lord Will Not Forsake His People

1 O Lord, God of ajvengeance,
O God of vengeance, akshine forth!
2 alRise up, O amjudge of the earth;
repay to the anproud what they deserve!
3O Lord, aohow long shall the wicked,
how long shall apthe wicked exult?
4They pour out their aqarrogant words;
all arthe evildoers boast.
5They ascrush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
6They kill atthe widow and the sojourner,
and murder authe fatherless;
7 avand they say, “The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.”
8 awUnderstand, O dullest of the people!
Fools, when will you be wise?
9 axHe who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10He who aydisciplines the nations, does he not rebuke?
He who azteaches man knowledge
11 bathe Lordknows the thoughts of man,
that they are bbbut a breath.

12 bdBlessed is the man whom you bediscipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13to give him bfrest from bgdays of trouble,
until bha pit is dug for the wicked.
14 biFor the Lord will not forsake his bjpeople;
he will not abandon his bkheritage;
15for bljustice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will bmfollow it.
16 bnWho rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 boIf the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of bpsilence.
18When I thought, bq“My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, brheld me up.
19When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20Can bswicked rulers be allied with you,
those who frame injustice by btstatute?
21They buband together against the life of the righteous
and condemn bvthe innocent to death.
Hebrew  condemn innocent blood

22But the Lord has become my bxstronghold,
and my God bythe rock of my bzrefuge.
23He will bring back on them catheir iniquity
and cbwipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.
