5 You have jrebuked the nations; you have made the wicked perish;
you have kblotted out their name forever and ever.
6The enemy came to an end in everlasting ruins;
their cities you rooted out;
the very memory of them has perished.
7 But the Lord sits enthroned forever;
he has established his throne for justice,

Psalms 10

Why Do You Hide Yourself?

1 Why, O Lord, do you stand ajfar away?
Why akdo you hide yourself in altimes of trouble?
2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor;
let them ambe caught in the schemes that they have devised.
3For the wicked anboasts of the desires of his soul,
and the one greedy for gain aocurses
Or  and he blesses the one greedy for gain
and aqrenounces the Lord.
4In the pride of his face
Or  of his anger
the wicked does not asseek him;
Or  the wicked says, “He will not call to account”

all his thoughts are, au“There is no God.”
5His ways prosper at all times;
your judgments are on high, avout of his sight;
as for all his foes, he awpuffs at them.
6He axsays in his heart, “I shall not be moved;
throughout all generations I ayshall not meet adversity.”
7 azHis mouth is filled with cursing and badeceit and bboppression;
bcunder his tongue are bdmischief and beiniquity.
8He sits in ambush in the villages;
in bfhiding places he murders the innocent.
His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless;
9he lurks in ambush like bga lion in his bhthicket;
he bilurks that he may seize the poor;
he seizes the poor when he draws him into his bjnet.
10The helpless are crushed, sink down,
and fall by his might.
11He says in his heart, “God has forgotten,
he has bkhidden his face, he blwill never see it.”
12 bmArise, O Lord; O God, bnlift up your hand;
boforget not the afflicted.
13Why does the wicked bprenounce God
and say in his heart, “You will not bqcall to account”?
14But you do see, for you brnote mischief and vexation,
that you may take it into your hands;
to you the helpless bscommits himself;
you have been btthe helper of the fatherless.
15 buBreak the arm of the wicked and evildoer;
bvcall his wickedness to account till you find none.
16 bwThe Lord is king forever and ever;
the bxnations perish from his land.
17O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted;
you will bystrengthen their heart; you will incline your ear
18to bzdo justice to the fatherless and cathe oppressed,
so that cbman who is of the earth may strike terror no more.
