7 What then? ^aIsrael failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest ^bwere hardened, 8 as it is written,

^c“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
^deyes that would not see
and ears that would not hear,
down to this very day.”

2 Corinthians 3:14-16

14 But ^etheir minds were ^fhardened. For to this day, ^gwhen they read ^hthe old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. 15 Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. 16 But when ⁱone ^{▼▼Greek he} turns to the Lord, ^kthe veil is removed.
