Romans 7:5-13

5For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work min our members nto bear fruit for death. 6But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the onew way of pthe Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.

The Law and Sin

7What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, rI would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if sthe law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 8But sin, tseizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. uFor apart from the law, sin lies dead. 9I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. 10The very commandment vthat promised life proved to be death to me. 11For sin, wseizing an opportunity through the commandment, xdeceived me and through it killed me. 12So ythe law is holy, and the commandment is holy and righteous and good.

13Did that which is good, then, bring death to me? By no means! It was sin, producing death in me through what is good, in order that sin might be shown to be sin, and through the commandment might become sinful beyond measure.

Galatians 3:10-13

The Righteous Shall Live by Faith

10For all who rely on works of the law are zunder a curse; for it is written, aaCursed be everyone who does not ababide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11Now it is evident that acno one is justified before God by the law, for ad“The righteous shall live by faith.”
Or The one who by faith is righteous will live
12But the law is not of faith, rather af“The one who does them shall live by them.” 13Christ agredeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for usfor it is written, ahCursed is everyone who is hanged aion a tree”—
