20 Now ^athe law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, ^bgrace abounded all the more,

Romans 7:8-11

8 But sin, ^cseizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. ^dFor apart from the law, sin lies dead. 9 I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died. 10 The very commandment ^ethat promised life proved to be death to me. 11 For sin, ^fseizing an opportunity through the commandment, ^gdeceived me and through it killed me.

James 1:13-15

13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire ^hwhen it has conceived gives birth to sin, and ⁱsin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
