Romans 7:7-8

The Law and Sin

7What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, aI would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if bthe law had not said, “You shall not covet.” 8But sin, cseizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of covetousness. dFor apart from the law, sin lies dead.

1 Corinthians 10:6-8

6Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as ethey did. 7 fDo not be idolaters gas some of them were; as it is written, h“The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” 8 iWe must not indulge in sexual immorality jas some of them did, and ktwenty-three thousand fell in a single day.
