3 aThe watchmen found me
as they went about in the city.
“Have you seen him whom my soul loves?”

Song of Solomon 5:7

7 bThe watchmen found me
as they went about in the city;
they beat me, they bruised me,
they took away my veil,
those watchmen of the walls.

Isaiah 21:5-12

Watchman, what time of the night?
Watchman, what time of the night?”
12The watchman says:
Morning comes, and also othe night.
If you will inquire, pinquire;
come back again.”

Isaiah 56:10

10 qHis watchmen are blind;
they are all without knowledge;
they are all silent rdogs;
they cannot bark,
dreaming, lying down,
loving to slumber.

Isaiah 62:6

6 On your walls, O Jerusalem,
I have set swatchmen;
all the day and all the night
they shall never be silent.
You who put the Lord in remembrance,
take no rest,

Jeremiah 51:12

12 t“Set up a standard against the walls of Babylon;
umake the watch strong;
set up watchmen;
prepare the ambushes;
vfor the Lord has both planned and done
what he spoke concerning the inhabitants of Babylon.

to tell the king of Babylon
that his city is taken on every side;

Ezekiel 33:2-9

2 xSon of man, speak to yyour people and say to them, If zI bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their aawatchman, 3and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and abblows the trumpet and warns the people, 4then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, achis blood shall be upon his own head. 5 adHe heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. 6 aeBut if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, afthat person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.

7 ag“So you, ahson of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. aiWhenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. 8 ajIf I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, akand you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, althat wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 9 amBut if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, anthat person shall die in his iniquity, aobut you will have delivered your soul.
