Titus 2:2-13

2Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, asound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 3 bOlder women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, cnot slanderers dor slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5to be self-controlled, epure, fworking at home, kind, and gsubmissive to their own husbands, hthat the word of God may not be reviled. 6Likewise, urge ithe younger men to be self-controlled. 7Show yourself in all respects to be ja model of good works, and in your teaching kshow integrity, ldignity, 8and msound speech that cannot be condemned, nso that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. 9 oBondservants
Or Slaves (for the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface)
are to be submissive to their own masters qin everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,
10not pilfering, rbut showing all good faith, sso that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.

11For tthe grace of God uhas appeared, bringing salvation vfor all people, 12training us to renounce ungodliness and wworldly passions, and xto live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in ythe present age, 13 zwaiting for our blessed aahope, the abappearing of the glory of our great acGod and Savior Jesus Christ,

1 Peter 1:14-16

14As obedient children, addo not be conformed to the passions aeof your former ignorance, 15but afas he who called you is holy, you also be holy agin all your conduct, 16since it is written, ah“You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

1 Peter 2:9-12

9But you are aia chosen race, aja royal akpriesthood, ala holy nation, ama people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you anout of darkness into aohis marvelous light. 10 apOnce you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

11Beloved, I urge you aqas sojourners and exiles arto abstain from the passions of the flesh, aswhich wage war against your soul. 12 atKeep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, authey may see your good deeds and glorify God on avthe day of visitation.

1 Peter 4:2-5

2 awso as to live for axthe rest of the time in the flesh ayno longer for human passions but azfor the will of God. 3For the time that is past basuffices bbfor doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. 4With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of bcdebauchery, and bdthey malign you; 5but they will give account to him who is ready beto judge the living and the dead.

2 Peter 1:5-8

5For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith bfwith virtue,
Or excellence; twice in this verse
and virtue bhwith knowledge,
6and knowledge with self-control, and self-control biwith steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7and godliness bjwith brotherly affection, and brotherly affection bkwith love. 8For if these qualities
Greek  these things; also verses 9, 10, 12
are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or bmunfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
