אֵת אֲשֶׁר הָיָה מֵרֹאשׁ אֲשֶׁר שָׁמַעְנוּ וּבְעֵינֵינוּ רָאִינוּ אֲשֶׁר הִבַּטְנוּ וַאֲשֶׁר מִשְׁשׁוּ יָדֵינוּ עַל־דְּבַר הַחַיִּים׃
What was
afrom the
beginning,
what we have
bheard,
what we have
cseen with our
eyes,
what we
dhave
looked at and
etouched with our
hands,
concerning the
fWord of
Life--

וְהַחַיִּים נִגְלוּ וַנֵּרֵא וּמְעִידִים אֲנַחְנוּ וּמוֹדִיעִים לָכֶם אֶת־חַיֵּי הָעוֹלָם אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ עִם־הָאָב וְנִגְלוּ לָנוּ׃
and
gthe
life was
revealed, and we have
hseen and
itestify and
proclaim to you
jthe
eternal life,
which was
kwith the
Father and was
lrevealed to us--

אֵת אֲשֶׁר רָאִינוּ וְשָׁמַעְנוּ נוֹדִיעָה לָכֶם לְמַעַן תִּתְחַבְּרוּ לָנוּ גַּם־אַתֶּם וְהִתְחַבְּרוּתֵנוּ הִיא עִם־הָאָב וְעִם־בְּנוֹ יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ׃
what we have
mseen and
nheard we
proclaim to you
also,
so that you
too may
have fellowship with us; and
indeed our
ofellowship is with the
Father, and with His
Son Jesus Christ.

וְאֶת־זֹאת כֹּתְבִים אֲנַחְנוּ לָכֶם לְמַעַן תִּהְיֶה שִׂמְחַתְכֶם שְׁלֵמָה׃
pThese things we
write,
so that our
qjoy may be
made complete.

וְזֹאת הִיא הַשְּׁמוּעָה אֲשֶׁר שָׁמַעְנוּ מִמֶּנּוּ וַנַּגֵּד לָכֶם כִּי הָאֱלֹהִים אוֹר הוּא וְכָל־חשֶׁךְ אֵין בּוֹ׃
rThis is the
message we have
heard from Him and
announce to you, that
sGod is
Light, and in Him there is
no darkness at all.

אִם־נֹאמַר כִּי יֶשׁ־לָנוּ הִתְחַבְּרוּת עִמּוֹ וְנִתְהַלֵּךְ בַּחשֶׁךְ הִנְנוּ כֹזְבִים וּפְעֻלָּתֵנוּ אֵינֶנָּה אֱמֶת׃
tIf we
say that we
have fellowship with Him and
yet walk in the
darkness, we
ulie and
vdo not
practice the
truth;

אַךְ אִם־בָּאוֹר נֵלֵךְ כַּאֲשֶׁר הוּא בָאוֹר הִנֵּה נִתְחַבַּרְנוּ יָחַד וְדַם־יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ בְּנוֹ יְטַהֲרֵנוּ מִכָּל־חֵטְא׃
but
if we
wwalk in the
Light as
xHe
Himself is in the
Light, we
have fellowship with
one another, and
ythe
blood of
Jesus His
Son cleanses us from
all sin.

אִם־נֹאמַר כִּי אֵין־בָּנוּ חֵטְא הִנְנוּ מַתְעִים אֶת־נַפְשֹׁתֵינוּ וְהָאֱמֶת אֵין בָּנוּ׃
zIf we
say that we
have no sin, we are
deceiving ourselves and the
aatruth is not in us.

וְאִם־נִתְוַדֶּה אֶת־חַטֹּאתֵינוּ נֶאֱמָן הוּא וְצַדִּיק לִסְלֹחַ לָנוּ אֶת־חַטֹּאתֵינוּ וּלְטַהֲרֵנוּ מִכָּל־עָוֺן׃
abIf we
confess our
sins, He is
faithful and
righteous,
so that He will
forgive us our
sins and
accleanse us from
all unrighteousness.

וְאִם־נֹאמַר כִּי לֹא חָטָאנוּ לְכֹזֵב נְשִׂימֶנּוּ וּדְבָרוֹ אֵין בָּנוּ׃
adIf we
say that we have not
sinned, we
aemake Him a
liar and
afHis
word is not in us.
