וַיֹּאמֶר גַּם אֶל־תַּלְמִידָיו אִישׁ עָשִׁיר הָיָה וְלוֹ פָקִיד עַל־בֵּיתוֹ וַיַּלְשִׁינֻהוּ אֵלָיו בְּאָמְרָם כִּי־מְפַזֵּר הוּא אֶת־קִנְיָנֶיךָ׃
Now He was
also saying to the
disciples,
“There was a rich man who had a manager, and this manager was ▼reported to him as bsquandering his possessions.

וַיִּקְרָא אֹתוֹ וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו מַה־זֹּאת שָׁמַעְתִּי עָלֶיךָ תֵּן חֶשְׁבּוֹן פְּקִידוּתְךָ כִּי לֹא תוּכַל לִהְיוֹת עוֹד פָּקִיד׃
And he summoned him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’

וַיֹּאמֶר הַפָּקִיד בְּלִבּוֹ מָה אֶעֱשֶׂה כִּי־יִקַּח אֲדֹנִי מִמֶּנִּי אֶת־הַפְּקִידוּת לַעֲדֹר לֹא־אוּכַל וְלִשְׁאֹל עַל־הַפְּתָחִים אֲנִי בוֹשׁ׃
And the manager said to himself, ‘What am I to do, since my ▼master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to ▼dig; I am ashamed to beg.

יָדַעְתִּי מָה אֶעֱשֶׂה לְמַעַן יַאַסְפוּנִי אֶל־בָּתֵּיהֶם בְּעֵת אוּסַר מִפְּקִידוּתִי׃
I know what I will do, so that when I am removed from the management people will welcome me into their homes.’

And he summoned each one of his ▼master’s debtors, and he began saying to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’

jugs of oil.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’

וְאֶל־אַחֵר אָמַר כַּמָּה אַתָּה חַיָּב וַיֹּאמֶר מְאַת כֹּר חִטִּים וַיֹּאמֶר קַח אֶת־שְׁטָרְךָ וּכְתֹב שְׁמֹנִים׃
Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ And he said, ‘A hundred ▼▼One kor is about 7.7 cubic feet or 0.22 cubic meters

And his ▼master complimented the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of ithis age are more shrewd in relation to their own ▼kind than the ksons of light.
