כִּי דוֹמָה מַלְכוּת הַשָּׁמַיִם לְאָדָם בַּעַל־בָּיִת אֲשֶׁר הִשְׁכִּים לָצֵאת בַּבֹּקֶר לִשְׂכֹּר פֹּעֲלִים לְכַרְמוֹ׃
“For athe kingdom of heaven is like ▼a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his cvineyard.

וְהִתְנָה עִם־הַפֹּעֲלִים שְׂכַר דִּינָר לַיּוֹם וַיִּשְׁלָחֵם אֶל־כַּרְמוֹ׃
When he had agreed with the laborers for a ▼▼The denarius was a day’s wages for a laborer
denarius for the day, he sent them into his vineyard.

וַיֵּצֵא בַּשָּׁעָה הַשְּׁלִישִׁית וַיַּרְא אֲחֵרִים עֹמְדִים בְּטֵלִים בַּשּׁוּק׃
And he went out about the ▼third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace;

וַיֹּאמֶר לָהֶם לְכוּ גַם־אַתֶּם אֶל־כַּרְמִי וְכַיּשֶׁר אֶתֵּן לָכֶם וַיֵּלֵכוּ׃
and to those he said, ‘You go into the vineyard also, and whatever is right, I will give you.’ And so they went.

וַיֵּצֵא גַּם בַּשָּׁעָה הַשִּׁשִּׁית גַּם בַּתְּשִׁיעִית וַיַּעַשׂ כַּדָּבָר הַזֶּה׃
Again he went out about the ▼sixth and the ninth hour, and did ▼the same thing.

And about the ▼eleventh hour he went out and found others standing around; and he *said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day long?’

They *said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He *said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’

“Now when ievening came, the ▼owner of the vineyard *said to his kforeman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, starting with the last group to the first.’

אֵלֶּה הָאַחֲרוֹנִים לֹא עָשֹוּ כִּי אִם־שָׁעָה אֶחָת וְאַתָּה הִשְׁוִיתָם אֵלֵינוּ אֲשֶׁר סָבַלְנוּ אֶת־כֹּבֶד הַיּוֹם וְאֶת־חֻמּוֹ׃
saying, ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day’s work and the nscorching heat.’

וַיַּעַן וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־אֶחָד מֵהֶם רֵעִי לֹא עֲשַׁקְתִּיךָ הֲלֹא שְׂכַר דִּינָר הִתְנֵיתָ עִמִּי׃
But he answered and said to one of them, ‘ oFriend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius?

Take what is yours and go; but I want to give to this last person the same as to you.

Jesus replied,
“You do not know what you are asking. Are you able aeto drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They *

just as anthe Son of Man aodid not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His ▼life as a ransom for many.”

And
two people who were blind,
sitting by the
road,
hearing that
Jesus was
passing by,
cried out, “
Lord,
arhave mercy on us,
asSon of
David!”

Moved with compassion,
Jesus touched their
eyes; and
immediately they
regained their
sight and
followed Him.
