וַיֵּרֶד בָּאֳנִיָּה וַיַּעֲבֹר וַיָּבֹא אֶל־עִירוֹ׃
Getting into a
boat,
Jesus crossed over the Sea of Galilee and
came to
aHis
own city.

וְהִנֵּה הֵם מְבִיאִים אֵלָיו אִישׁ נְכֵה אֵבָרִים וְהוּא מֻשְׁכָּב עַל־הַמִּטָּה וַיְהִי כִּרְאוֹת יֵשׁוּעַ אֶת־אֱמוּנָתָם וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־נְכֵה הָאֵבָרִים חֲזַק בְּנִי נִסְלְחוּ־לְךָ חַטֹּאתֶיךָ׃
bAnd they
brought to Him a
cparalyzed man lying on a
stretcher. And
seeing their
faith,
Jesus said to the
man who was
paralyzed,
“ dTake courage, ▼son; fyour sins are forgiven.”

וְהִנֵּה אֲנָשִׁים מִן־הַסּוֹפְרִים אָמְרוּ בִלְבָבָם מְגַדֵּף הוּא׃
And
some of the
scribes said ▼to
themselves, “
This man is
hblaspheming!”

וַיַּרְא יֵשׁוּעַ אֶת־מַחְשְׁבֹתָם וַיֹּאמַר לָמָּה תַחְשְׁבוּ רָעָה בִּלְבַבְכֶם׃
And
Jesus,
iperceiving their
thoughts,
said,
“Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?

כִּי מָה הַנָּקֵל הֶאָמֹר נִסְלְחוּ־לְךָ חַטֹּאתֶיךָ אִם־אָמֹר קוּם הִתְהַלֵּךְ׃
For which is easier, to say, ‘ jYour sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’?

אַךְ לְמַעַן תֵּדְעוּן כִּי בֶן־הָאָדָם יֶשׁ־לוֹ הַשָּׁלְטָן בָּאָרֶץ לִסְלֹחַ חֲטָאִים וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־נְכֵה הָאֵבָרִים קוּם שָׂא אֶת־מִטָּתְךָ וְלֶךְ־לְךָ אֶל־בֵּיתֶךָ׃
But so that you may know that kthe Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” --then He *
said to the
lparalyzed man,
“Get up, pick up your stretcher and go home.”

But when the
crowds saw this, they
were ▼awestruck, and they
oglorified God, who had
given such authority to
men.

Jesus went on
from there, He
saw a
man called qMatthew sitting in the
tax collector’s office; and He *

followed Him.

many tax collectors and

uWhy is your
Teacher eating with the
tax collectors and
sinners?”

Jesus heard this, He
said,
“It is not vthose who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.

וְאַתֶּם צְאוּ וְלִמְדוּ מָה הוּא חֶסֶד חָפַצְתִּי וְלֹא זָבַח כִּי לֹא־בָאתִי לִקְרֹא אֶת־הַצַּדִּיקִים כִּי אִם־אֶת־הַחַטָּאִים לִתְשׁוּבָה׃
Now go and learn ▼ xwhat this means: ‘ yI desire ▼compassion, ▼rather than sacrifice,’ for abI did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Then the
disciples of
John *came to Him,
asking, “
Why do we and

Pharisees fast, but Your
disciples do not

And
Jesus said to them,

sons of the wedding place attendants of the groom cannot mourn as long as the groom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the groom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

Jesus,
turning and
seeing her,
said,
“Daughter, artake courage; asyour faith has ▼made you well.” And

two men who were blind followed Him,
crying out, “
Have mercy on us,

“Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They *
said to Him, “
Yes,
Lord.”

demons.”

Jesus was
going through all the
cities and
villages,

synagogues and

kingdom, and
healing every disease and
every sickness.

crowds, He
felt compassion for them,
