1 Timothy 2:9-15
9likewise also athat women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 bbut with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. 11Let a woman learn quietly cwith all submissiveness. 12 dI do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 13 eFor Adam was formed first, fthen Eve; 14and Adam was not deceived, but gthe woman was deceived and became a transgressor. 15Yet she will be saved through hchildbearing—if they continue in ifaith and love and holiness, with self-control. 1 Timothy 3:1-7
Qualifications for Overseers
1The saying is jtrustworthy: If anyone aspires to kthe office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2Therefore lan overseer ▼▼Or bishop; Greek episkopos; a similar term occurs in verse 1
must be above reproach, nthe husband of one wife, ▼▼Or a man of one woman; also verse 12
psober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, qhospitable, rable to teach, 3not a drunkard, not violent but sgentle, not quarrelsome, tnot a lover of money. 4He must manage his own household well, with all dignity ukeeping his children submissive, 5for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for vGod’s church? 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may wbecome puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7Moreover, he must be well thought of by xoutsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into ya snare of the devil.
