‏ Psalms 16

You Will Not Abandon My Soul

A aMiktam
Probably a musical or liturgical term
of David.

1Preserve me, O God, for in you I ctake refuge.
2I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
dI have no good apart from you.”
3As for ethe saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,
in whom is all my delight.
Or To the saints in the land, the excellent in whom is all my delight, I say:

4The sorrows of those who run after
Or  who acquire
another god shall multiply;
their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out
or htake their names on my lips.
5The Lord is imy chosen portion and my jcup;
you hold my klot.
6 lThe lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
7I bless the Lord who mgives me counsel;
in nthe night also my oheart instructs me.
Hebrew  my kidneys instruct me

8 qI have rset the Lord always before me;
because he is at my sright hand, I shall not be tshaken.
9Therefore my heart is glad, and my uwhole being
Hebrew  my glory
rejoices;
my flesh also dwells secure.
10For you will not abandon my soul to wSheol,
xor let your yholy one see zcorruption.
Or  see the pit

11You make known to me abthe path of life;
in your presence there is acfullness of joy;
at your right hand are adpleasures forevermore.
