Scripture amply affirms that God defends the cause of the widow, the orphan, the poor and the needy.

The antithesis assumes that the widow is the prey of the proud, who want to take her land and home (Isa 5:8-10). God has established the boundaries of His people in the land and will maintain them (Deu 19:14).
