Psalm 60

Through God We Shall Do Valiantly

For the choir director. According to ▼
▼Lit The lily of testimony
Shushan Eduth. A ▼
▼Possibly Epigrammatic Poem, Atonement Psalm
Mikhtam of David. For teaching. ▼
▼2 Sam 8:3, 13; 1 Chr 18:3, 12
When he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.

1O God, You have rejected us. You have ▼
▼Or broken out upon us
broken us;
You have been angry; Oh, restore us.
2You have made the ▼
▼Or earth
land quake, You have split it open;
Heal its breaches, for it shakes.
3You have caused Your people to see hardship;
You have given us ▼
▼Lit wine of staggering
wine to drink that causes reeling.
4You have given a banner to those who fear You,
▼
▼ Or That it may be displayed because of the truth
In order to flee to it from the bow. ▼
▼Selah may mean Pause, Crescendo, Musical Interlude
Selah.
5That Your beloved may be rescued,
Save with Your right hand, and answer ▼
▼Some mss me
us!
6God has spoken in His ▼
▼Or sanctuary
holiness:
“I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.
7“Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
Ephraim also is the ▼
▼Lit protection
helmet of My head;
Judah is My ▼
▼Or lawgiver
scepter.
8“Moab is My washbowl;
Over Edom I shall throw My shoe;
Make a loud shout, O Philistia, because of Me!”
9Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who ▼
▼Or has led
will lead me to Edom?
10Have You Yourself, O God, not rejected us?
And will You, O God, not go forth with our armies?
11Oh give us help against the adversary,
For salvation ▼
▼Lit of
by man is worthless.
12 ▼
▼ Or In, With
Through God we shall do valiantly,
And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.
