1 Chronicles 13:5-8
v. 5–8: People came from all over Israel, from the south near the river of Egypt to the north at the entrance of Hamath, to join in bringing the ark. This showed how important the ark was to everyone. There was great joy because the people were bringing back something that had been neglected. When God’s presence and worship are restored, it is a time for happiness. However, David made a mistake by carrying the ark on a cart, copying what the Philistines had done. Even good people can make errors if they do not follow God’s instructions exactly (1 Chronicles 13:5–8; 2 Samuel 6:1–3 a; 1 Samuel 6:12 b). – – –
