v. 20: Paul asks, “Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world?” All the learning and arguments of the world could not bring people to God. God made the wisdom of the world look foolish, because it could not save anyone (1 Corinthians 1:20-21 ^b).
