‏ 1 Kings 16:6

v. 6: God did not punish Baasha himself while he was alive. He died peacefully and was buried in his city (1 Kings 16:6 a). The curse was for his children, not for him. As it says in Job, God lays up his iniquity for his children (Job 21:19 b). Even if punishment does not come during someone’s life, God’s judgment will happen later, sometimes to their descendants. This reminds us that there is a final judgment after death.
