1 Samuel 11:14
vv. 14–15: Samuel used this moment to bring the people together at Gilgal before the Lord (1 Samuel 11:14-15 a). First, they gave public thanks to God for the victory. The people were very happy and offered sacrifices of peace-offerings to God, giving Him the credit for their success. Second, Saul was officially made king in a special ceremony. Samuel wanted everyone to clearly accept Saul as their king, and the people agreed. This renewed their promise to follow Saul, and made his position as king secure.
