‏ 1 Samuel 24:12

v. 12-13, 15: David said he would never take revenge on Saul himself, but would leave it to God: “The Lord avenge me of thee…but my hand shall not be upon thee” (1 Samuel 24:12 a). David appealed to God as the righteous Judge, saying, “The Lord judge between me and thee” (1 Samuel 24:12, 15 b). David trusted God to defend him and make things right, even if people misunderstood or hurt him. He left his case in God’s hands and waited for God’s justice. David also quoted an old proverb, “Wickedness proceeds from the wicked” (1 Samuel 24:13 c). He meant that if he were evil, he would act wickedly. But because he feared God, he refused to do wrong, even to his enemy.
