‏ 1 Timothy 3:2

v. 2: Paul lists the first qualifications: A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach (1 Timothy 3:2 a). A bishop must be above reproach, with no scandal attached to his name. He should be faithful in marriage, watchful, self-controlled, respectable, generous to others, and able to teach God’s Word clearly. These qualities show that church leaders must be examples of godly living.
