Paul's Sincerity and AfflictionIn this section, Paul defends himself against accusations of being unreliable. Some people in Corinth claimed that he changed his plans without good reason. Paul explains that his changes were not because he was fickle, but because he cared for them. He wants to show that his character is trustworthy and that the gospel he preaches is always true.v. 15: Paul explains that he originally planned to visit the Corinthians so they could receive a "second benefit" from his ministry. He wanted to show them that his intentions were sincere and not selfish (2 Corinthians 1:15 a).
