‏ 2 Samuel 18:24

v. 24-27: David, sitting at the gate of Mahanaim, anxiously waited for news. A watchman saw Ahimaaz running and reported it to David, saying one runner usually meant important news (2 Samuel 18:24-25 a). When the king learned it was Ahimaaz, he assumed the news would be good because Ahimaaz was known as a good and trustworthy man (2 Samuel 18:27 b). This shows how a messenger’s character can affect how their message is received.
