‏ Colossians 4:6

v. 6: Paul continues, Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how to answer every man (Colossians 4:6 a). He reminds Christians to speak kindly and respectfully, ensuring their words reflect their faith. Speech should be seasoned with salt, meaning it should be wise, wholesome, and preserve goodness, just as salt prevents decay. This helps Christians answer everyone appropriately, whether they are sharing the gospel or responding to questions about their faith. As Peter says, Be ready always to give an answer to every man who asks you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear (1 Peter 3:15 b).
