‏ Deuteronomy 26:3-4

v. 3-4: When someone brought their first-fruits, they had to make a special statement before giving the basket to the priest. The person bringing the offering was to say that God had kept His promise by bringing them to the land He had sworn to give their ancestors. This was especially meaningful after the long journey in the wilderness. It showed that God always keeps His promises (Deuteronomy 26:3-4; 1 Kings 8:56 a). The priest would then place the basket before the altar as an offering to God, recognizing God as the true owner of the land. Recognizing God’s faithfulness makes His gifts even more special, and this act of worship reminded the Israelites of their dependence on God's provision and promises.
