‏ Esther 9:3

v. 3-4: The rulers and officers of the provinces helped the Jews now, because they were afraid of Mordecai’s power and reputation (Esther 9:3 a). Mordecai had become very great and respected, so the officials wanted to be on his side (Esther 9:4 b). Sometimes, powerful leaders can encourage others to do what is right, even if they do not do it out of love, but out of respect or fear.
