‏ Ezekiel 45:18

v. 18–19: At the start of each year, there is a special ceremony to cleanse the sanctuary (Ezekiel 45:18 a). On the first day of the first month, a sacrifice is made to remove the sins of the past year and to ask for God’s help in the new year. The blood of the sin-offering is put on the posts of the inner court gate (Ezekiel 45:19 b). This is a way to ask for forgiveness for everyone who serves in the temple. It is important to regularly ask God to forgive our mistakes and to start each year with a clean heart, just like King Hezekiah did (2 Chronicles 29:17 c).
