Genesis 3:23
v. 23: God sends Adam and Eve out of the garden to farm the ground from which Adam was taken (v. 23 a). Being sent out of Eden is part of the punishment, but it is also a sign of mercy. God could have destroyed them completely, or sent them to hell, but instead he sends them to work and live on the earth. Their life will now be one of labor and struggle, but there is still hope—they are not abandoned by God.
