Even after seeing the results of ignoring God's word, Zedekiah and the people did not learn. They refused to listen to Jeremiah, even though his prophecies were already coming true. Zedekiah asked Jeremiah to pray for them, but he would not obey God’s messages. During this time, Jerusalem was briefly safe because the Chaldean army left to face Egypt.
