Jeremiah 41:11-12
Johanan Pursues Ishmael; Ishmael's RetreatThis section tells how Johanan tried to rescue the people and bring justice after the murder of Gedaliah. Even though Johanan was brave and acted quickly, his decisions later brought new problems for the people. The story shows how one bad action can cause more trouble for everyone, and how fear and unbelief can lead people away from trusting the Lord.v. 11–12: After hearing about Ishmael’s crimes, Johanan and the other leaders gathered their men and chased after Ishmael. They caught up with him at the great pool of Gibeon. When Ishmael saw Johanan’s forces, he was afraid and did not want to fight (Jeremiah 41:11–12 a). –
