John 16:6
v. 6: Jesus gently corrects them, saying, But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart (John 16:6 a). Even though he has told them things that should bring joy, the disciples focus only on the sad news. They let their hopes for an earthly kingdom and comfort make them miss the good Jesus is promising. Jesus understands their pain, but he wants them to look beyond the sorrow and see the greater plan—his victory, their comfort, and the good that will come from his leaving.
