John 8:44
v. 44: Jesus boldly says, “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him” (John 8:44 a). Jesus teaches that those who oppose God’s truth and seek to harm others show the devil’s character. The devil is the father of lies and murder, and those who follow him imitate his ways. Their rejection of Jesus and their desire to kill him reflect the devil’s influence (John 8:44 b).
