‏ Jonah 2:1

Jonah’s Prayer from the Fish

This section tells what happened after Jonah was swallowed by the great fish. Inside the fish, Jonah prays to the Lord. His prayer is full of sorrow, confession, and hope. Jonah remembers God’s mercy and admits his own mistakes. He thanks God for saving him from drowning, even though he still faces danger. Jonah also promises to obey God and offers his praise. This prayer shows that God hears us even in the darkest and lowest places, and that He can deliver us when we turn back to Him.

v. 1: Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly. Inside the belly of the fish, Jonah prays to God. Even though he is in a terrible place, he looks to the Lord for help. This teaches us that we can pray to God anywhere, even when things seem hopeless .
