Joshua 3:17
v. 17: The priests stood still in the middle of the Jordan with the ark while everyone crossed ( a). The ark was a sign of God’s presence and power holding back the water. The priests had to trust God to protect them, even with a wall of water above their heads. Their faith was an example for the rest of the people. As the Israelites crossed, they did not need to be afraid, because God was with them, just as Psalm 23:4 says: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.”
