v. 8: Now these same people look terrible. Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: their skin cleaveth to their bones; it is withered, it is become like a stick . Hunger and sorrow have changed them so much that people hardly recognize them. Even those devoted to God suffer along with everyone else (Isaiah 52:14 ^b).
