Leviticus 14:2
v. 2-3: When someone thought they were healed, the priest had to examine them outside the camp (v. 3 a). The priest did not become unclean by helping the leper. This was a kindness to the lepers. Priests were meant to teach and help those who suffered. Those in trouble need guidance and comfort from God’s word (Job 33:23 b). Just as the priests visited the lepers, ministers should care for those who are spiritually troubled (James 5:14 c). Spiritually, if someone has sinned and is separated from the church, we should not treat them as enemies but help them come back (2 Thessalonians 3:15 d). When someone repents, they should be welcomed with love and care (2 Corinthians 2:7,8 e). Leaders have the responsibility to declare both judgment and forgiveness, and should do so wisely and fairly, praying for God’s help.
