‏ Luke 16:26

v. 26: “And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.” But the damned in hell shall not have the least abatement of their torment. In this world, blessed be God, there is no gulf between a state of nature and grace; we may pass from sin to God. But if we die in our sins, there is no coming out. The chasm is fixed—not by arbitrary decree, but by the settled character and choices that led each to their eternal destiny.
